Light Steel Framing
LSF stands for Light Steel Framing and stands for Light Steel Frame. It is a construction method based on the use of steel as the main structural material.
This simply means that the conventional construction structure made of concrete and iron, in this method is used steel elements, which are called profiles. The structures are then lined internally and externally with various high quality materials.
In LSF, the acronym light refers to the lightness of the material of the entire metal structure itself.
- Structural Safety
Although the concept is lightness, this does not call into question the structural strength of LSF structures, they are very safe. The strength of the structure is offered by the material, ie steel, and does not differ for conventional structures.
In traditional construction the safety of the structure is guaranteed by iron elements integrated in cement pillars, while in the LSF structure this security is provided by galvanized steel, in profiles and beams with 60 cm spacing. The LSF structure is lighter as it does not require cement, but it also becomes more earthquake resistant as the exterior walls operate as the building structure, thus spreading the full weight of the slabs and floors, making it more flexible and reinforced, which greatly reduces the risk of cracking and cracking.
That is, the low weight of the structure throughout the LSF building, a good load distribution throughout the perimeter of the structure, the malleability of the metal make this type of building safer than traditional buildings.
